In Swift, here is a class method extension to NSDate that calculates a person's age given their birthday in NSDate format:
extension NSDate {
class func calculateAge(birthDate: NSDate) -> Int {
var calendar = NSCalendar.currentCalendar()
let ageComponents = calendar.components(.CalendarUnitYear, fromDate: birthDate, toDate: NSDate(), options: nil)
return ageComponents.year
}
}
You use it like this:
let age = NSDate.calculateAge(<pass the NSDate>)
