I'm one of the few, apparently, who thought the Apple Newton's glyph recognition was pretty slick back in the '90s. Fortunately, glyph and gesture recognition as continued to evolve. Github contributor "fe9lix" has written DollarP-ObjC, a 2D gesture recognizer designed for rapid prototyping of gesture-based user interfaces. The key feature is that it offers a relatively simple way to hook into the iOS gesture recognition features and provide your own gesture templates. Swipe away!
